Exterior Painting in Ellesmere Port

Render, masonry, windows, doors, fascias and soffits, painted by a family run, fully insured decorating team with 15 years in the trade. Free quotes, and a fixed price for most jobs.

Why exterior painting matters

The outside of a building takes a beating. Rain, wind, frost and sun all work away at paintwork until it fades, cracks and starts to flake. Once that happens, water can get into timber and masonry, and small jobs turn into bigger repairs.

A good coat of paint does two things. It protects the surfaces underneath, and it makes the whole property look cared for. That counts whether you're selling a house, letting a flat or welcoming customers through the door of your shop.

When people usually call us

  • Paint on windows, doors or fascias has started to peel or crack
  • Render or masonry paint looks patchy, green or faded
  • You're getting a house ready to sell or let
  • A business wants its frontage to look smart again
  • You simply fancy a new colour for the front door

What we paint outside

  • Rendered and pebbledashed walls
  • Brick and masonry
  • Wooden windows and sills
  • Front and back doors
  • Fascias, soffits and bargeboards
  • Gates, fences and railings

How exterior painting is done properly

Most of the work in a lasting exterior finish happens before any paint goes on. Loose and flaking paint is scraped back, surfaces are cleaned, and any mould or algae on walls is treated. Cracks and gaps are filled, and bare timber is primed so the topcoats grip properly.

Then comes the right paint for each surface. Masonry paint is made to let walls breathe while keeping the rain out. Exterior woodwork needs a flexible coating that moves with the timber as it swells and shrinks through the year. Two coats is normal for good coverage.

A word about the weather

Exterior paint needs dry surfaces and mild temperatures to cure well, which is why most outside work happens from spring to early autumn. Paint put on damp walls or in a cold snap won't last as long, so it's worth planning ahead.

Questions

Exterior painting questions

Can't see your question here? Drop us a line and we'll get back to you.

Ask us a question
What time of year is best for exterior painting?

Late spring to early autumn is usually best. Paint needs dry surfaces and mild temperatures to cure properly, so long dry spells give the most lasting finish. It's worth getting your quote booked early so the work can be planned for good weather.

How often does the outside of a house need painting?

It depends on the surface and how exposed it is. Woodwork such as windows and fascias tends to need attention sooner than rendered walls. If paint is cracking, flaking or fading badly, it's time to look at it before water gets in.

Can you paint render and pebbledash?

Yes. Rendered and pebbledashed walls are cleaned, treated for any mould or algae, repaired where needed and then painted with a masonry paint made to keep rain out while letting the wall breathe.

How much does exterior painting cost?

Every property is different, so we give a free quote. For most jobs we come out to look first, and simpler jobs can often be quoted over the phone. Most work is priced at a fixed cost, so you know what you'll pay.

Can you paint a shop front or business premises out of hours?

Yes. We work evenings and weekends, which helps businesses keep trading while the outside of the building is painted.

Are you insured to work on my property?

Yes, we're fully insured and fully qualified, and we've been painting and decorating for 15 years.
