Decorating in Chester, from our base in Ellesmere Port

Yes, we cover Chester. It sits about nine miles south of Ellesmere Port, so it's a short drive for us and one of the places we work in regularly. Whether you live inside the city walls or out in the suburbs, we're happy to come and see you.

Homes with a lot of character

Chester is an old city, and its housing shows it. There are Georgian and Victorian terraces, black and white timber framed buildings, plenty of interwar semis and newer estates further out. Older properties often need more care: lime plaster, original mouldings, sash windows and woodwork that has been painted many times over. Good preparation matters here, and it's where a properly finished job really shows.

If your home is listed or in a conservation area, it's worth checking with the council before changing outside colours or finishes. We can talk that through with you when we visit.

Shops, offices and rentals

The city centre is busy with shops, cafés and offices, and many of them can't simply close for a week while the decorators are in. Because we work evenings and weekends, we can plan the job around your opening hours. Chester also has a large number of rented homes, from city flats to shared houses near the university, which is why landlords and letting agents use us for turnarounds between tenancies.

Who we work for in Chester

  • People at home, for one room or the whole house
  • Landlords and letting agents who want a decorator they can rely on
  • Businesses, from small shops to larger commercial jobs
  • Schools, councils and charities

Bigger jobs and regular work are always welcome. Get in touch and tell us what you have in mind.

Questions

Decorating in Chester: your questions

Something else on your mind? Send us a message and we'll get back to you.

Ask us a question
Do you cover all of Chester?

Yes. We're based in Ellesmere Port, about nine miles away, and work across Chester, from the city centre to the surrounding suburbs. If you're unsure whether we reach you, just ask.

Can you decorate an older or period property in Chester?

Yes. Chester has lots of Victorian and Georgian homes, and older properties usually need more preparation, such as filling cracked plaster and dealing with woodwork that has many layers of old paint. We'll look at the space first and explain what's needed.

Do I need permission to repaint the outside of my house?

Usually not, but if your home is listed or in a conservation area there may be rules about outside colours and finishes. It's worth checking with Cheshire West and Chester Council before work starts.

Can you work around my shop or office opening hours?

Yes. We work evenings and weekends, so commercial decorating can be planned for when you're closed and trading can carry on as normal.

How does a quote work?

Quotes are free. For most jobs we come out to see the space first, and for simpler work we can often quote over the phone. Most jobs come with a fixed price, so you know what you'll pay.

Do you work for landlords and letting agents in Chester?

Yes. We decorate rented homes between tenancies and are happy to be the regular decorator for landlords and letting agents with several properties.

Planning some decorating in Chester?

Tell us about the job and we'll arrange a free quote, with a fixed price for most work. Homes, rentals and businesses all welcome.
